SCAFFOLDING TO THE FRONT EXTERIOR

THE NEW ROOF

Finally we have a new roof! The old tiles were removed and the timber supports replaced as can be seen in these photos. The best of the old roof tiles were then replaced with a few new additions.

Finalmente abbiamo un nuovo tetto! Le vecchie piastrelle sono state rimosse e sostituite i supporti in legno come si può vedere in queste foto. Il meglio delle vecchie tegole sono stati poi sostituiti con alcune nuove aggiunte.

The existing wall structure and cross beams are revealed, giving some idea of the age of the house.

RSJ'S EVERYWHERE

The dividing wall between the two ground floor rooms has been demolished and an RSJ fitted in it's place. A couple of smaller RSJ's have been inserted above the recess next to the sink where the wood burning Rayburn will eventually be sited.

A new wall has been built on the right of the recess to carry the weight of the RSJ.

There are also new RSJ's above the window, doors and upstairs, a metal tie has been fitted to hold the front and back walls in place.

La parete divisoria tra le due camere al piano è stato demolito e un RSJ montato al suo posto. Un paio di piccoli RSJ sono state inserite al di sopra della cavità vicino al lavandino dove la legna Rayburn finirà per essere situato.

Una parete nuova è stata costruita sulla destra del vano di portare il peso del RSJ.

REVEALING THE ROOF

With the wooden ceiling removed on the first floor, the interior of the roof is revealed. For the time being, the ceiling joists will remain, held up with props, until the structure of the house is stabilised with metal ties.

The top photo shows the opening which at one time had glass or plastic fitted. Now it is open to the sky and letting the rain in.

Con il soffitto ligneo rimosso al primo piano, l'interno del tetto è rivelato. Per il momento, i travetti del soffitto resterà, terrà con oggetti di scena, fino a quando la struttura della casa è stabilizzato con tiranti in metallo.

EXTERNAL CRACKING

The vibration caused by the removal of the internal plaster on the walls has caused the house to shift, as seen by the crack on the external wall. It will be necessary to fit wall ties to prevent any further movement.

La vibrazione causata dalla rimozione del gesso interna delle pareti ha causato la casa spostare, come visto dalla fessura sulla parete esterna. Sarà necessario per adattarsi legami parete per prevenire qualsiasi ulteriore movimento.

REVEALING THE UPSTAIRS CEILING

The wooden ceiling of the first floor is in remarkably good condition except where a open window in the roof has allowed thirty years of rain to enter.

Il soffitto in legno del primo piano è in ottimo stato, tranne dove una finestra aperta sul tetto ha permesso a trenta anni di pioggia di entrare.

STRIPPING THE WALLS

June 2012 and the builders have removed all the plaster from the walls, revealing a bricked up door in the first floor from when the house was originally part of a bigger house next door.

The wall which still has plaster, on the left, will be knocked down and a steel RSJ fitted to support the staircase behind. This area will become the new bathroom.


Giugno 2012, i costruttori sono stati rimossi tutti l'intonaco dalle pareti, rivelando una porta murata al primo piano da quando la casa era originariamente parte di una casa più grande della porta accanto.

La parete che ha ancora gesso, sulla sinistra, viene abbattuto e RSJ acciaio, adatta a sostenere la scala dietro. Questa zona diventerà il nuovo bagno.

CASA MADGE-refurbishment work begins!

The house has been empty for thirty years so one of the first jobs was clearing out the remains of the furniture and sweeping away accumulated dust. 


The first job was to knock through the wall behind the bath exposing the stairwell. Then remove the old boiler fixed to the wall and the tin bath. The pedestal sink and toilet which we will be reused in the new bathroom.

La casa è stata vuota per trenta anni, quindi uno dei primi lavori è stato sgombrare i resti dei mobili e spazzando via la polvere accumulata.


Il primo lavoro era quello di battere attraverso la parete dietro il bagno di esporre la tromba delle scale. Quindi rimuovere la vecchia caldaia fissato alla parete ed il bagno di stagno. Il lavello piedistallo e servizi igienici che saranno riutilizzati in bagno nuovo.
